Bulk update cost price of items in QuickBooks Online using export/import feature


1 Log into your QBO account

2. Select the gear icon on the top right corner and select Product and Services


3. Once you are in Product and Services page, click on the Export to Excel button on the right corner



4. The exported file will have all the fields along with cost price field. Please fill in the Purchase Cost field (Column H) which is the cost price against each product (A sample file is attached for reference).
5. Once the cost prices are updated, go back to Products and Services page in QBO. Click on New button on top right corner. This will provide the option to import.

6. Please upload the updated excel sheet and click on Next
7. In the map data page, just select the fields that you want to map. By default the fields that are with data would be mapped, you can change if you want and click Next
8. The import page will list you all the fields, you can modify there as well if you want and select the checkbox, Overwrite all values ..... at the bottom


Once these steps are followed, the items would be updated with cost price.

Note: Request to try with small number of products first say 10 to 20 and check everything went well. Later you can go for bulk upload of 500 or so.
